Day 1

Discovering Scrum

In a series of facilitated group exercises you will be discovering Scrum yourselves, so that you will gain insight to Scrum principles and deeper understanding of its rules. You will not see Scrum just as a methodology but an interconnected set of patterns and solutions to various situations coming up daily while developing complex products.

• Product as a solution to customer’s needs or problems
• Iterative approach to understanding customer’s needs and discovering the best solutions
• Incremental approach to regular delivery of value
• Mutual transparency to increase trust, better uncovering of issues before they become problems
• Team and customer collaboration
• Self-organization and leading Scrum teams
• Getting things done

Day 2

Scrum Simulation

After you discover Scrum you will experience it in a unique and challenging simulation. You will be creating a solution for a customer, who will only present you their problem, not requirements. The simulation emphasizes understanding of customer’s needs and attention to detail. More than mere Scrum mechanics it focuses mostly on:

• How easy people fall for their own assumptions about customer’s needs and how fast iterative approach reveals whether they’re true or not (usually the latter)
• How fast a team self-organizes without a direct report and starts collaborating and constantly improving sprint by sprint

Participants always praise the simulation as a strong experience and come back to its learning during their subsequent work.

How to start

The course is focused on practical implementation, so the second half of day 2 is devoted to tips how to start with Scrum:

• Who is your customer, what is your product and what customer’s problem does it solve
• How to appoint a Product Owner, Scrum Master and the team itself
• How to maximize understanding of customer’s needs through iterations
• How to maximize transparency
• How to cooperate with outside of a Scrum team
• What to avoid and what not to underestimate

Professional Scrum Trainers are professionals licensed by Scrum.org, a training and certification organization founded by Ken Schwaber, co-author of Scrum. They are skilled in software development and/or product management. They are experts in Scrum and have extensive experience applying, leading, teaching, and coaching it. They have been servant-leaders at an organizational level. They are active in local agile and software development communities, as well as the broader global agile and Scrum movements.

Our trainer

The course is delivered by Karel Smutný, Enterprise Agile Coach and Professional Scrum Trainer™ (PST) at Scrum.org. Karel has almost 10 years of experience helping companies with Scrum adoptions and agile transformations. He worked with more than 70 teams in dozens of companies of various sizes and industries. He is an expert in Large Scale Scrum, Scrum Patterns and Extreme Programming.

Cílová skupina

Kurz je pro všechny, kteří pracují (nebo plánují pracovat) ve Scrum týmu, či se se Scrum týmy stýkají ve své každodenní práci. Kurz není primárně zaměřen na softwarový vývoj a je tak vhodný i pro nevývojové týmy.
